Deborah was introduced to yoga at age 3. She became a teacher in 2001 after graduating from Harvard, working in the business world and starting her own dot-com company. Deborah is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. She teaches several styles of yoga ranging from very active, which will challenge even seasoned athletes, to gentle, restorative classes which can melt away stress. Her group classes are motivating, energizing and accessible to all levels, and her private sessions are customized to each individual. Her clients include athletes, executives, yoga teachers, persons recovering from injury, children, students, busy professionals and those wishing to deepen their practice.. Deborah’s first teacher training was in Ashtanga yoga, the style from which “power yoga” and “vinyasa flow” were derived. Her next teacher trainings were Ana Forrest’s foundation and advanced courses. She has also done teacher trainings with Rodney Yee, Edward Clarke, Aadil Palkhivala, David Swenson, Shiva Rea and Gary Krafstow. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from many other yoga masters including: David Williams, Barbara Benaugh and Baron Baptiste and and has taken classes in anatomy and bio mechanics. Deborah has assisted Ana Forrest at Yoga Journal conferences and national events. She has taught at the Boston Ballet, and many venues throughout Boston. She initiated the yoga workshops program at Harvard and has taught workshops for beginners as well as advanced students. She currently teaches at Harvard University and Boston Sports Club as well as private and corporate clients. Diverse teachers, yoga styles, types of dance and life experiences have given her a broad selection of tools to bring to her teaching. In addition to teaching yoga Deborah continues to pursue her lifelong passions for painting, photography and dance. Her work has been exhibited in New York. Deborah has been a photographer for the Boston Yoga Journal Conference, the Boston Global Yoga Mala and the Omega Being Yoga Conference in New York City. You can see a sample of her work here. Deborah has a strong interest in animal welfare and she donates a portion of her earnings to organizations such as the MSPCA which rescue animals in need.
